Copyright Policy

As an iLement Author, you own the copyright and intellectual property of your items. This policy outlines how intellectual property and copyright apply to your work and what to do if compromised.

What is Intellectual Property?

Intellectual property (IP) refers to legal rights that protect creative and intellectual work, giving creators exclusive rights to control its use, distribution, and reproduction.

Types of Intellectual Property

  • Patents: Protect new inventions, processes, or scientific creations.
  • Trademarks: Protect brands, logos, and slogans.
  • Copyright: Protect original works of authorship.

Your Rights as an iLement Author

As an iLement Author, you own the copyright for the items you create. This gives you exclusive rights to:

  • Make copies and distribute your work.
  • Create derivative works or modify the original.
  • Sell or license your work in any form.

What to Do If Your IP is Compromised

If you find your items being distributed outside of iLement without permission, or if another iLement Author is infringing on your copyright, you have options:

  • First, contact the author directly through their iLement profile.
  • If unresolved, submit a DMCA Takedown Notice or take legal action.

Submitting a DMCA Takedown Notice

If your copyright has been infringed, submit a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) Takedown Notice. Visit our Help Center for instructions on filing a valid DMCA notice.

Receiving a DMCA Takedown Notice

If you receive a DMCA notice, review the claims carefully. You can either accept it or file a DMCA counter-notification if you believe your rights have not been infringed.

General IPR Notices

If another author uses content that infringes your trademark or other IP, submit a General IPR Notice with details about the infringement. iLement will investigate accordingly.
